Since I'm actually utilizing my YouTube account now, I figured I'd try my hand at a video series, and since my job has me driving all over Pittsburgh - a city with some of the most interesting streets on the East Coast - why not document some of them? :D You can subscribe to my YouTube Channel to keep up, and I'll also be posting them here to my LJ (Always under a cut folks, don't worry! And they will always be Public Posts) Most will only be 1 or 2 minutes long. Also, if you have any suggestions, leave me a note here or send me a message on YouTube! ( On to the first installment: Eleanore St., Leticoe St. and Sterling St. in the South Side Flats ) Current Mood: creative |

Personally, I choose to carry a firearm not because I'm Rambo or have delusions that everyone is after me; rather, I see it as a means of lawful personal defense that has the ability to stop the escalation of a situation bad enough that a forceable felony is being committed, or in a worst case be used to end one. Ask a peace officer why they are required by their agency to have a badge and a firearm with them at all times, even when off-duty. Could it be because their agency wants them to be able to address dangerous or criminal situations if they should arise outside of their time on-duty? When it comes to using a deadly weapon for lawful defense functionally speaking there is nothing that a peace officer knows (IE the law) or practices (ex. defense shooting) that you cannot also know or practice. It is my personal opinion that if you choose to carry, you should do so after as much education and proper training as possible so that you could be as useful as one of our many underpaid and hard working law enforcement officers should the absolute need arise, with the understanding that a concealed weapons permit is not a badge or act of deputization. That being said, I hope never to be put into a position where I deem it necessary to lawfully draw and even have to use my weapon. I do not believe everyone should carry a firearm; those not serious enough, or willing, to put in the needed time and effort for training should probably not. |
